We would like to greatly expand our ‘locations’ and are soliciting suggestions from members and the public for places that offer photographic opportunities.
Please include with any suggested location: the name of the place, the nearest city, the state, and the latitude and longitude, as well as a few sentences describing the sites attractions. Links to photographs of the site taken by the submitter would also be welcome.
There are a few sites on the Internet that allow you to obtain the latitude and longitude of a location. We might suggest trying itouchmap.com/latlong.html. This site allows you to drag a marker to the desired place on a map and then read off the lat/long. (A annoyance is that the marker always starts in Africa and needs to be dragged to Colorado.) Please use the decimal format for lat/long instead of the degrees-minutes-seconds format. Zoom in on the map and locate the marker as accurately as possible. Be careful to record all the lat/long digits accurately.
As suggestions come in we will be expanding our map to include them (this is currently in research mode).
Note that new suggestions need not be limited to an hour’s drive from Denver but it might be helpful to limit it to a day’s drive from Denver.
